What makes this dish different

Like all our food, we prepare our Fish Pie with great care. We start by evenly layering generous chunks of tender salmon, hake and naturally smoked haddock. Then comes the bechamel sauce (made the traditional way), a dash of fresh lemon and a sprinkling of just-chopped parsley. To top it off, we add a blanket of rich, buttery mash and our favourite mature cheddar and crispy breadcrumb topping. Wonderful.

How to cook

For One

Preheat your oven to 200°C/180°C fan/gas mark 6. Please don't grill!

  1. Pre-heat oven. Remove the film but leave the fish pie in its wooden tray.
  2. Place on a baking tray in the centre of the oven (away from any element or flame) and cook for 30 mins.
  3. Leave to stand for 2 mins before serving. Make sure it's piping hot.

This recipe includes some raw ingredients and isn’t suitable for microwaving. If frozen, defrost thoroughly before cooking.

For Two

Preheat your oven to 220°C/200°C fan/gas mark 7. Please don't grill!

  1. Pre-heat oven. Remove the film but leave the fish pie in its wooden tray.
  2. Place on a baking tray in the centre of the oven (away from any element or flame) and cook for 35 mins.
  3. Leave to stand for 2 mins before serving. Make sure it's piping hot.

I am not usually a fan of fish pies as I find them underwhelming and rather tasteless, but this delightful gem changed all of that as it contains large chunks of fish, which actually retains their individual flavours, all in a lovely sauce topped with mash that is of the right proportion to complement the fish. In short, this fish pie has turned the tide and caught me hook line and sinker, I love it.

I used to work on Newlyn fish market back in the day so had the best of fish. Your fish pie is better than any I made. Coming in close second is Coq au vin

This is the only shop bought fish pie I've ever had that is on a par with what we would cook at home or eat out. Lovely and moist with raw fish and seafood rather than pre-cooked, which means the meat is beautiful when it's ready rather than dry and rubbery. The salmon in particular is gorgeous! The mash is lovely and moist. By far better than the M&S fish pie which I find dry and tasteless. We get this almost every week for the odd evening when we don’t have time to cook from scratch

That was until i happened to buy your fish pie from Sainsbury’s that I saw reduced the other week. How wrong was i. Not only was it the tastiest fish pie I’ve ever had (I went back to get another 2 fully priced ones) but I think your meals are great value for money. Since then I buy one of your meals weekly (the fish pie is still my favourite) and it is my favourite dinner of the week. I tried the Thai red curry last night and was blown away.I look forward to working my way through your dishes!
